Ed Goes To A Birthday Party

I wore the Special Hat to my cousin’s
birthday celebration.
My relatives all loved it without question.
By now you too know the reason.
It’s gonna be the next thing in fashion.

My uncle said the Special Hat was definitely
unusual.
That he hadn’t seen something so original.
That you come across something like that only
once in a while.
We both agreed the Special Hat was very special.

I gave one to my cousin, Paul, as a birthday present.
He was more than happy and content.
He wouldn’t take it off his nose even for a moment.
I knew why in an instant.

The Special Hat has a way to make you feel tall.
With it on you no longer feel small.
It’s better than getting a new ball.
I never got anything better that I can recall.

The first thing my aunt did was take a picture so
she can look at us again in the future.
She says, “when you’re old and mature you won’t
want to wear the Special Hat for sure”.

When time came for the cake Paul and I gave a
head shake.
We would not remove it for goodness’s sake.
Not even for a minute for a break!

When we sang happy birthday Paul was really
proud and happy.
He kept touching the Special Hat on his nosey.
It made us all laugh and we felt giddy.

Then we went to the basement to play.
My cousin had a piñata full of candy.
We all went at it, it wasn’t easy.
Finally, we broke it and got plenty.

Later we went outside.
I had brought my flying saucer to go slide.
The two of us went for a ride wearing the
Special Hat on our nose alike.

The kids in the neighborhood asked where
we got our little hood because they all
wanted one if they could.
We said sure, no problem, that’s good!

Then we played hide and seek.
From laughing Paul and I couldn’t keep.
We laughed till our knees became weak
and got found because we were heard squeak.

We then returned home for dinner.
Afterwards we played on the computer.
We also played Snake and Ladder then
watched a movie after.

Today was only for the family.
Next week is Paul and his friends’ party.
We are all going to the pool that day.
There’ll be pizza, cake and presents needless to say.

We’re both lucky boys.
Not only spoiled with toys but with love and joy
to spread around and enjoy!!!
